One of our major goals at the Encyclopedia of Milwaukee project is to promote new research about Milwaukee’s history. That is why we are publishing The Bibliography of Metropolitan Milwaukee with Marquette University Press this summer.
What we did not expect was that we would also inspire new research in other fields. Ann Graf, a doctoral student in UWM’s School of Information Studies and one of the Bibliography’s editors, worked on the Encyclopedia while she was earning her MS in Information Studies. Since then, she and her advisor, Prof. Richard Smiraglia, have presented several scholarly papers about the organization of information in the Encyclopedia. Their presentations include:
